Planning Your Perfect Stay: Villas with Private Pool in Lonavala

A villa with a private pool turns a Lonavala weekend into a different kind of holiday. Nobody shares the pool, nobody books the sunbeds, and the day runs on your timetable: a swim before breakfast, a long lunch, the pool again after the sun goes off it. Stayscape has fourteen such villas in Lonavala, from a 3-bedroom house for one family to two 11-bedroom estates for a wedding party, every one of them standalone with its own pool.

This guide is for the planning: how to pick the right size, what to check before you confirm, which of our villas suit which kind of trip, and a three-day plan that works. The full list, with dates and rates, is on our villas in Lonavala page.

What a private pool changes

Compared with a resort, a villa with its own pool gives you:

  • Privacy: the pool is for your group only, with no timings and no strangers
  • Your own hours: a swim at sunrise, or at midnight with the garden lights on
  • Meals where you want them: breakfast on the pool deck, a barbecue on the lawn
  • Children in sight: parents can see the pool from the living room and the kitchen
  • One bill for the house, which for a group of twelve or more is usually cheaper than a row of hotel rooms

Choose the size first

Bedrooms decide everything else, so start there. As a rule, count two guests per bedroom for comfort and use the villa’s maximum only for one-night celebrations. In Lonavala we have:

  • 3 BHK: Honeycomb, and the three Aquavista houses, for one family or six to twelve friends
  • 4 BHK: Casa Santorini, for two families or a group of up to sixteen
  • 5 BHK: Stone Water, Gulmohar, Casa Tropica and Sage House, the most common size for two or three families
  • 6 BHK: Maison Bellevue and Woodhouse, for larger groups of friends and extended families
  • 9 BHK: Aquavista, three houses and three pools on one plot, pure veg, for up to thirty
  • 11 BHK: Evergreen Escape and Bricstone House, for weddings, reunions and corporate offsites

What to check before you book

  • Where exactly it is. Lonavala villas are spread between Khandala, Tungarli and the lake side. Ask how far the villa is from the Expressway exit and from the places you want to visit.
  • Pool details. Size, depth and whether there is a shallow end for children. All our pools are private to the villa; some have a jacuzzi alongside.
  • What is included. Every Stayscape villa comes with a caretaker on site and home-cooked meals on request at a per-person charge. Confirm meal plans, extra-guest charges and pet policy in advance.
  • Power and weather. Generator backup for the monsoon, and air-conditioning in every bedroom for April and May.
  • House rules. Pool hours for children, noise after 10 pm, and whether the villa allows events. Our villas that take celebrations are marked on the events collection.
  • Timing. Long weekends and Diwali book out four to six weeks ahead. Weekday rates are lower, and a 1+1 night offer runs on selected dates outside peak periods.

Four villas, four kinds of trip

Evergreen Escape, 11 BHK. The largest villa we have in Lonavala, built for the trip where the whole family comes: eleven bedrooms, a big pool with lawns on either side, an open living and dining floor that opens to the deck, and space for a wedding function or a company offsite.

Casa Santorini, 4 BHK. Whitewashed walls and blue trim after the Greek islands, with the pool in a bougainvillea courtyard and terraces for the sunset. The pick for two families or a group of friends who want the villa to look as good as the holiday.

Stone Water, 5 BHK. Stone, timber and water: a five-bedroom house on the Pune side of town with a long pool and a quiet garden. For the group that wants to do very little, well.

Honeycomb, 3 BHK. A three-bedroom house with its own pool for a family or six friends, on the Tungarli side close to the Khandala viewpoints. The right size when you do not need eleven bedrooms and would rather not pay for them.

A three-day plan that works

  • Day 1. Leave Mumbai or Pune after breakfast, check in from 2 pm, and spend the afternoon in the pool. Barbecue on the lawn in the evening; the caretaker lights it.
  • Day 2. Tiger's Leap or Lion's Point at sunrise, before the day-trippers, then the Karla caves on the way back. Lunch at the villa, the pool until the sun goes off it, and the Lonavala market for chikki before dinner.
  • Day 3. Yoga or a walk on the lawn, a last swim, and check-out at 11 am. Bhushi Dam on the way out in the monsoon.
